George Zimmerman’s lawyer called the recently acquitted defendant’s help in rescuing four people in a car crash last week “quintessential George.”

“This is the person who I knew him to be when I found out about his past before February 12,” Mark O’Mara, Zimmerman’s attorney, said on CNN on Monday night. “It’s the guy who always involved in the community, always going to lend a helping hand and here we go, four days after the event, something that I could not have planned but turned out to be just pure George.”

Zimmerman and another man helped pull four people from an SUV that had overturned in Sanford, Fla., last Wednesday, the same community where he fatally shot Trayvon Martin, CNN reported.

O’Mara said he saw Zimmerman after the rescue, but that Zimmerman did not mention the incident to him. The rescue occurred just four days after Zimmerman was found not guilty in the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin.
