Biden cancels event with Booker
Vice President Joe Biden is canceling a trip to New Jersey this week to campaign for Newark Mayor Cory Booker because of the government shutdown, Biden’s office said Tuesday.
Biden had been scheduled to campaign for Booker, who is running for Senate in New Jersey, this Friday, five days before the special election to fill the Senate seat of late Sen. Frank Lautenberg.
President Barack Obama has endorsed Booker, who has been running ahead of his Republican challenger Steve Lonegan in the polls by double digits.
