Manufacturers Under Attack By NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio

NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio is suing energy manufacturers and jeopardizing their ability to continue growing, innovating and creating jobs.

These lawsuits have been called a “civic shakedown” and are based on a flawed legal strategy that constitutes an abuse of our legal system.

The manufacturing sector is the lifeblood of the nation’s and New York’s economy. For every $1.00 spent in manufacturing, another $1.89 is added to the economy. That is the highest multiplier effect of any economic sector.

“The mayor’s decision to play politics with underfunded pension plans and sue U.S. energy manufacturers is the same divisive approach we’ve seen fail time and again. It’s a fundamental waste of the court’s time and the taxpayer’s resources.”

Linda Kelly, Senior Vice President, Legal, General Counsel at National Association of Manufacturers
