A former member of Mitt Romney’s presidential finance team has signed on to Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson’s presidential campaign, Johnson’s campaign confirmed Tuesday.

Mindelynn Young, who previously served on Romney’s Northeast finance team, has been working as a fundraising consultant for the Johnson-Weld ticket with a focus on Libertarian vice presidential nominee Bill Weld, the former Massachusetts governor.

“On a day-to-day basis she’s working with Bill Weld,” Johnson campaign spokesman Joe Hunter said.

Young’s involvement with Weld underscores the former Massachusetts governor’s ties to top Republican Party officials. In June, Romney himself praised Weld as a “terrific governor” and said that he would have liked Weld to be the Libertarian nominee.

“I wish Bill Weld were at the top because I knew Bill Weld as the governor of my state,” Romney said.
