PRO Transport Launch event “Smart Transport: Clean, Safe and Efficient”

Violeta Bulc is the European commissioner for mobility and transport, a position she has held since November 2014. As commissioner, Bulc prioritized digitalization, decarbonization and innovation in the transport sector. Previously, she served as deputy prime minister of Slovenia with responsibility for development, strategic projects and cohesion. Bulc also served as chief of the program committee of Modern Centre party (SMC) from 2013 to 2014 and as CEO of Vibacom, a sustainability consultancy, from 2000 to 2014. She held various positions in the telecom industry, including vice-president of Telemach from 1999 to 2000, director of carrier business at Telekom Slovenia from 1997 to 1999. Bulc holds an MSc in information technology from Golden Gate University in San Francisco and a BSc in computer science and informatics from the University of Slovenia.

Michael Cramer MEP is a German member of Alliance'90/The Greens, part of the Greens-European Free Alliance (Greens/EFA) Group in the European Parliament. He was elected to the European Parliament in 2004 and has been the chairman of the Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism since 2014. He is also a member of the EP’s delegation to the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and chairs the parliamentary platform "Rail Forum Europe". Between 1989 and 2004 he was a member of the Berlin regional parliament and served as transport spokesman for the Green group. Previously Cramer worked as a secondary school teacher in Berlin between the years 1975 and 1995. He has a Master’s degree in education, music and physical education from Mainz University.

Jos Dings has headed Transport & Environment since 2004. From 2001 to 2004, he worked as head of the transport division at CE Delft, a respected environmental policy consultancy in the Netherlands. At CE, he focused on EU policy issues and transport pricing strategies, advising national governments and the European Commission. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Delft University (1987-1994).

Daniël Termont, a Flemish politician from the Socialist Party (sp.a), has been mayor of Ghent since 2007. Termont holds several positions in utility companies including chairman of Fluxys Holding and Publigas nv and vice-chair of TMVW Integraal Waterbedrijf and Havenbedrijf Gent. In February 2015, Termont was elected second in the World Mayor 2014 competition of the London-based City Mayor Foundation. He has been a member of Ghent city council since 1977. He is also vice-president of Eurocities, an association representing over 170 European cities.

Joost Vantomme has been Smart Mobility Director at the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) since September 2016. From September 2013 to November 2014, he was director at Hill+Knowlton Strategies. From November 2011 to August 2013, he served as a member of the cabinet of the Belgian Minister of Economy. In late 2014, he joined FEBIAC, the Belgian automotive federation, as director. Vantomme has over 25 years’ experience in legal, regulatory and public affairs. He has served at various telecommunications and postal operators as legal and regulatory/public affairs director, combining this with leading policy making roles in European associations such as PostEurop and FEDMA, as well as at the UN level (UPU). Vantomme holds a Master’s in Economic Business Law, a Master’s in Law and a Diploma in Teaching Law from the Universities of Leuven, Poitiers and Louvain.

Magda Kopczynska has been Director for Innovative and Sustainable Mobility in the European Commission’s department for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) since May 2014. She previously held different positions at the European Commission including head of unit dealing with maritime and transport policy and logistics (2011-14); and clean transport, urban transport and intelligent transport systems (2009-11). She also worked at the European Commission’s department for Internal Market and Services (2006-09). Before being a civil servant, she directed the Brussels Office of the Polish Employers Confederation ‘Letwiatan’ during three years. She also worked for the Warsaw local administration as the head of cabinet of the mayor and beforehand as director of the promotion department. She has a degree in English literature from Jagiellonian University in Krakow and a post-graduate degree in communications from Warsaw University.
