Hardly a day goes by without Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy and California Rep. Adam Schiff on the airwaves calling out Republicans for their handling of the investigation into Russia’s intervention in the 2016 election. The two men have emerged as two of the most outspoken figures of the Democratic opposition to the Trump administration and congressional Republicans. At the same time, Mayor Pete Buttgieg of South Bend, Indiana, commanded the attention of Democrats across the country with his well-received, though unsuccessful, bid to chair the Democratic National Committee. The Harvard grad and reserve naval intelligence officer in a red state is expected to be a mainstay on the national circuit.
