President Barack Obama and the first family expressed their condolences Monday following the death of Robin Williams, calling the actor “one of a kind.”

“Robin Williams was an airman, a doctor, a genie, a nanny, a president, a professor, a bangarang Peter Pan, and everything in between. But he was one of a kind,” Obama said in a statement.

He continued, citing Williams’ breakthrough role in the ABC sitcom “Mork & Mindy.”

“He arrived in our lives as an alien – but he ended up touching every element of the human spirit. He made us laugh. He made us cry. He gave his immeasurable talent freely and generously to those who needed it most,” Obama said.

The Academy Award-winning actor died Monday at the age of 63 of suspected suicide due to asphyxia, local authorities announced. Williams was found dead in his California residence, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
