Though she is often called the most fashionable woman in Congress, outgoing Speaker Nancy Pelosi may be ready for a makeover.

The Washington Post reported Wednesday that Pelosi "has turned to director Steven Spielberg for help remaking her personal brand."

After seeing her party suffer considerable defeats in the midterm elections this year, Pelosi could be hoping for a turnaround in 2011.

According to the newspaper, "Lawmakers say she is consulting marketing experts about building a stronger brand. The most prominent of her new whisperers is Steven Spielberg, the Hollywood director whose films have been works of branding genius."

But no "What not to Wear" (or what to do or say) consultations have occurred yet. The Post reported that, "Lawmakers said Spielberg has not reported to Pelosi with a recommendation."

Spielberg is no stranger to Democratic politics, the paper points out. The man behind "ET," "Flags of our Fathers" and so many other popular flicks, also lent his talents to the 2008 Democratic National Convention, Bill Clinton's millennial celebrations and helped fundraise for President Obama.

While these efforts relied on Spielberg's talents as a producer and, of course, his famous name, the image consultant role would seem to require a bit more creativity.

Update: After the Washington Post story hit the stands on Wednesday, Spielberg’s spokesman Marvin Levy made a press statement about the famous producer’s future as a political image consultant. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Levy denied that his client has plans to work as a consultant to Speaker Pelosi.

Said Levy, "Today's story regarding Nancy Pelosi made a reference to Steven Spielberg that requires a response. I can say as a long-time spokesman for Steven that he has made it his career to direct actors, not political figures.”

Second update: On Thursday, Speaker Pelosi's office issued the following statement about her reaching out to the director: "Speaker Pelosi is a great admirer of Steven Spielberg and loves his movies. Any thoughts that they are in consultation is not so."

Pelosi will go down in history as the WORST Speaker EVER for America.

Only the leftist history professors and publishers will claim her to be otherwise.

Pelosi put this Nation into debt $2.8 TRILLION this year alone.

ALL spending ORGINATES in the HOUSE.

Nancy called the American people that disagreed with her view...... NAMES.

Nancy and her $2,000 Armani suits and her $100,000 black pearls.

Nancy who ABUSED her position with the military planes.

She is 70 years old and may she ROT in ..... for what she did to our children.

    WE will NOT forget.

Fitting...the biggest fake in politics goes to the Capital of "Fakedom" to get a makeover. Yeah, sure... Hollywood is where one would find out how to impress regular folks in "flyover country".

Great - just what they need - a billionaire telling them how to sharpen their message to raise taxes on husbands and wives who make just over 125k per year. He will be the one to convince the masses that "these" are the rich.

Wow, After the Ass Kicking Pelosi took from the American People last Novenber 2nd, I hate to tell her, its going to take more than a makeover. A majority of the people are mad as hell and there not going to continue to let politicans shove bill after bill down there throats, not giving a damm what they think. As Dandy Don Meridith used to say " TURN OUT THE LIGHTS THE PARTY'S OVER......

Pelosi was demonized incessantly by the Right Wing noise machine - history will prove her a hero. Righties I talk to are clueless about the facts of just about everything. PR is a problem. It's easy for the plutocratic right to control an ignorant/bigoted base - lefties are much harder to herd.

    Let's face it.

    It's not the fact that:

    1) Obama's 'velvet revolution' has failed or that

    2) he never really intended to 'change the way that Washington operates'.

It's really because statism and socialism hasn't been 'sold' properly. If Russia, China, North Korea and even Cuba could sell socialism to their people . . . it proves that it can really work.

It simply has to be sold better.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...remark her brand? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA - I needed a good laugh after wondering how do you remake a 2000+ health care package that no one read, made by lobbyists and the Big Pharma companies, and oh yes, without draining the swamp. Thank s for the laugh Queen NanP, you are the gift that keeps on giving to the Repubs.

Pelolsi does need re-branding. She needs branding with a big letter S for socialist. That should complete her look as she tends to buttermilk at the horse farm.
