POLITICO PRO Health Care Briefing Call

With reporters, Jillian Deutsch and Ashleigh Furlong

POLITICO PRO Health Care Briefing Call

When? Tuesday, January 26, 11:00 a.m. CET/ 10:00 a.m. GMT

Is the EU’s coronavirus vaccine plan on track?

The new year ushered in coronavirus vaccination campaigns across the Continent, but there’s widespread early criticism that progress is slow so far. In this Pro Briefing call, POLITICO’s Jillian Deutsch will discuss whether the criticism of Brussels is legitimate and what will be the key milestones for vaccines in 2021 to determine when life will return to normal. As EU capitals work to save public health and the economy, the call will discuss examples from Paris to Madrid to Budapest on the problems blocking vaccine delivery and the political solutions being tested. With the coronavirus pandemic providing the strongest argument so far for increased health powers for the EU, the call will also examine the outlook for a European Health Union and the temperature in national capitals for ceding more powers to Brussels. And POLITICO’s Ashleigh Furlong will explain how well, or not, Europe is doing in ensuring that the vaccine gets to lower income countries beyond its borders.
